Mind-body medicine

Mind-body medicine is aimed at learning how to help oneself, increase the quality of life, manage stress and also find life purpose. It also assists in developing strategies to cope with illness.

Mind-body medicine support the patient and help to develop a health-promoting lifestyle. The approach of both forms of therapy is holistic, considering body, mind and spirit as one.

As a rule, mind-body medicine and order therapy are used in addition to conventional and naturopathic treatment. Both forms of therapy can be applied to healthy people as well as to those who are ill.

Mind-body medicine (MBM) offers various concepts for the healthy management of everyday life. It was developed in the USA in 1970 and is based on findings from stress research.
This form of therapy includes other personal aspects, such as the direct effect of feelings, attitudes, thoughts, social and spiritual ways of looking at things.

Similarly, mind-body medicine promotes and helps to maintain the ability to develop self-care. The therapy consists of various procedures and methods that may focus on the following areas:

  • Exercise
  • Relaxation techniques/meditation
  • Nutrition
  • Stress management
  • Social contacts in their interaction

As a rule, the therapy lasts several weeks and takes place on an outpatient basis in a group or is carried out in individual contact in our practice. Mind-body medicine can be used for prevention, rehabilitation or palliative purposes.

Its use is common in parallel with conventional and naturopathic treatment.

MEDICAL EFFECT OF MIND-BODY MEDICINE

According to scientific findings, the effectiveness of Mind-Body medicine can be optimal, especially in the long-term treatment of chronic diseases, when naturopathic and conventional methods are combined in a targeted manner. In many cases, the side effects of conventional drug therapies could be reduced in connection with mind-body medicine, because the dose of the drugs could be reduced as a result.

For mind-body medicine, positive effects have been scientifically proven so far for the following diseases and complaints:
